MASHANTUCKET, CT (August 15, 2021) – Foxwoods® Resort Casino is reporting slot revenue of $36.5 million for the month of July 2021. This results in a $9.1 million direct payment to the State of Connecticut in accordance with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s long-standing slot revenue contribution agreement. Since 1993, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has deposited over $4 billion of Foxwoods’ slot revenue directly into the state’s budget fund.
In July, Foxwoods Resort Casino unveiled a one-of-a-kind mural by global artist and viral sensation Kelsey Montague at a special dedication ceremony. Exclusive to Foxwoods, The Arbor Swing mural – adorned with the flowers of each of the fifty states – represents strength in unity, appreciation for community and hopefulness as we look toward the future. Pequot elements are woven throughout to honor the Mashantucket Tribe, the land upon which this mural sits and the Pequot People. Guests are invited to stop by and snap a photo with the interactive mural, located across from Cedars Steaks & Oysters. For more information and to view a timelapse video of the artist at work, visit Foxwoods.com/KelseyMontague.
July also kicked off the start of The Green Gardens at Foxwoods, a whimsical summer pop-up eatery on the Fox Tower Lawn. A unique addition to Foxwoods Summerfest, The Green Gardens welcomes guests to immerse themselves in an intimate outdoor experience of indulgent food, tableside mixology of exquisite craft cocktails and live music set in a garden oasis filled with efflorescent blooms, lush greenery and ethereal ambiance. The eatery’s intimate lounge seating and large-group bungalows are available for three bookable sessions on August 20, August 27, and September 10. To learn more and book this summer’s ultimate Instagrammable dining experience, visit Foxwoods.com/GreenGardens.
The fun continued with Foxwoods’ first annual Cocktail Carnival on August 7, which entertained guests under the Big Top in early August. Attendees were transported to a playful carnival setting, where they sipped on imaginative cocktails and spirits while fire-breathers and stilt-walkers astounded their senses. Guests also enjoyed favorite fair treats with a twist as they tried their luck at classic carnival games and had fortunes told by a palm reader.
Looking forward, Foxwoods is excited to bring back Schemitzun, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s annual feast of green corn and dance. The celebration of the 2021 harvest season promises a two-day, family-friendly event on August 28 and 29, featuring live, interactive demonstrations of traditional Pequot practices including fire-pit cooking, wampum and fish net making, loom beadwork and basketry. Located at the Mashantucket Pequot Cultural Grounds in the heart of one of America’s oldest Indian reservations, Schemitzun will also feature traditional and contemporary tribal dance exhibitions, drum and live music, and plenty of authentic Native American-made crafts. The feast will offer traditional Native American cuisine prepared by celebrated New England Native chefs, sure to satisfy every appetite. Sample hearty chowders, local fish, wild game and seasonal fruit beverages prepared the traditional ways, along with contemporary fare such as Indian tacos, burgers, fry bread, unique desserts and more. Visit Schemitzun.com to view the full schedule and to plan your visit.
