MASHANTUCKET, CT (February 15, 2021) – Foxwoods® Resort Casino is reporting slot revenue of $24.5 million for the month of January 2021. This results in an $8 million direct payment to the State of Connecticut in accordance with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s long-standing slot revenue contribution agreement. Since 1993, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has deposited over $4 billion of Foxwoods’ slot revenue directly into the state’s budget fund.
In January, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation announced an exciting partnership with LionGrove to reopen the historic and iconic El San Juan Casino in Puerto Rico as the Foxwoods El San Juan Casino. The new casino will add a $12.5 million investment, in addition to a recently completed renovation for the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel, resulting in a total of $137.5 million in resort enhancements. These investments and the opening of the casino are anticipated to generate an estimated economic impact of $22 million back into the island, creating a projected 360 new jobs in the region.
Additionally, after thorough safety reviews with its Chief Medical Officer, this month Foxwoods announced the reopening of the Fox Tower Hotel as well as its Race Book and Keno offerings. Both activities are now available every Thursday to Sunday in a safe and socially distanced manner. Meanwhile, the Fox Tower Hotel is now accepting reservations for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Foxwoods and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation are also celebrating the resort’s 29th anniversary. Since first opening its doors almost three decades ago today, the resort has become the largest resort casino in North America, winning USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Award for the Number One Casino Outside of Las Vegas on numerous occasions. After shutting down once in its 29 year history as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the resort reopened with numerous safety protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of both guests and employees alike. Foxwoods continues to prioritize safety across all activities and amenities as it looks forward to another bright year ahead in its long history of success.
With so much to celebrate, there are plenty of safe and fun experiences to enjoy in the coming weeks at Foxwoods. Guests can now bring their kids to the recently reopened Tree House Arcade, open every Thursday to Sunday, or check out a premier lineup of socially distanced performances for Comedic Corner at Centrale in the Fox Tower.
