July 15, 2020 – (MASHANTUCKET, CT) – Foxwoods® Resort Casino is reporting slot revenue of $33.6 million for the month of June, 2020 which translates to $8.4 million in a direct payment to Connecticut’s coffers in accordance with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s long-standing agreement with the state to share 25 percent of slots revenue.
“The amount we are able to remit is remarkable given the historic shutdown of the state due to the pandemic,”Rodney Butler, Tribal Chairman, said “We’re pleased with the numbers, but even more gratified to bring back nearly 2000 previously furloughed employees back to work.”
“When combined with the Mohegan contribution, the state will receive close to $20 million in gaming payments this month,”Jason Guyot, tribal member and Acting CEO of Foxwoods. “That is slightly less than 2019, but under the historic circumstances - the shutdown and limited capacity operation — this is a huge success.”
Revenue associated with the gaming payments goes to benefit both Connecticut’s general fund and the municipal grant program known as the Pequot/Mohegan fund which is utilized by cities and towns to support a myriad of programs and services.
Since 1993, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has deposited over $4 billion of Foxwoods’ slot revenue directly into the state’s budget fund. Combined with payments from the Mohegan Tribe, the total number in gaming payments is closer to $9 billion.
“Foxwoods had never closed its doors before this March,” Butler said. “Our goal is to never to do so again; and, we will do that by assuring that the health and safety of our employees and guests remains the top priority of our organization.”
Foxwoods requires that every guest and employee wear a mask and be checked for temperature upon entering the facility. Plexiglass shields have been installed through-out the facility and high traffic surface areas are thoroughly cleaned on a strict schedule. With it’s state-of-art air filtration system and more than ample square footage, Foxwoods is well poised to be among the safest venues available for indoor entertainment.
