MASHANTUCKET, Conn., Feb. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Foxwoods® Resort Casino has reported slot revenue of $33.9 million for the month of January 2018. This figure is down 2.6 percent compared to $34.8 million in January of 2017. Handle for the month was $417.1 million, down 8.1 percent from the $454 million wagered in the same month in 2017.
Since 1993, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has infused over $4 billion of Foxwoods' slot revenue into the Connecticut state economy through the Mashantucket Pequot Fund, supporting much-needed programs and services throughout Connecticut. Foxwoods' contribution to the state in January 2018 is $8.5 million.
Foxwoods kicked off 2018 by honoring community heroes with "We Salute Our First Responders," an all-day event where Police, Fire and Rescue personnel received discounts on luxurious hotel rooms, a variety of exquisite dining experiences including free Festival Buffet admission and retail offerings.
Foxwoods caught pennant fever in January thanks to Baseball Winter Weekend, which featured over 40 Red Sox legends of past and present. Fans attended autograph sessions, insider panels, photo opportunities and a Town Hall meeting with their favorite players, coaches and executives. January's world-class entertainment lineup also included stellar stand-up from star comedians Kathleen Madigan, Jim Gaffigan and Ari Shaffir, as well as a spectacular ventriloquist show from America's Got Talent winner Darci Lynne.
February is a special month for Foxwoods as the resort casino celebrates its 26th anniversary. To celebrate the occasion, a cake cutting ceremony – complete with performances by the Mashantucket Pequot Honor Guard, Flag Song Performers and Mashantucket Pequot Dance Troupe, as well as prize giveaways – will begin on February 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Pequot Tower Rotunda.

About the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation
The Mashantucket Pequots are a native Algonquin people in southeastern Connecticut who endured centuries of conflict and survival on the oldest continuously occupied reservation in the U.S. (est. 1666). As the first native people within the continental United States to survive attempted genocidal massacre by European immigrants (1637), the Mashantucket Pequots have an unprecedented story of restoration, which is exhibited at their world-class Museum and Research Center (www.pequotmuseum.org).
