MASHANTUCKET, Conn., Jan. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Foxwoods® Resort Casino has reported slot revenue of $39 million for the month of December 2017. This figure is up 10.7 percent compared to $35.3 million in December of 2016. Handle for the month was $480.4 million, up 3.1 percent from the $465.7 million wagered in the same month in 2016.
Since 1993, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has infused over $4 billion of Foxwoods' slot revenue into the Connecticut state economy through the Mashantucket Pequot Fund, supporting much-needed programs and services throughout Connecticut. Foxwoods' contribution to the state in December 2017 is $9.8 million.
The holidays are a time for giving and this December, Foxwoods wrapped up another successful "Stuff the Bus" campaign in support of the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut and its "Tommy Toy" Fund program. When the program ended on December 11, buses were overflowing with thousands of unwrapped toys, blankets, pajamas, jackets and diapers to be donated to families in need.
There's always something new at Foxwoods and December brought the grand opening of Rainmaker Stadium, a dynamic stadium-gaming experience in the Rainmaker Casino featuring 30 play terminals and the ability for players to toggle seamlessly between live Blackjack and Mini-Baccarat games.
Guests were treated to a dazzling entertainment lineup thanks to the jaw-dropping illusions of MINDFREAK LIVE! starring Criss Angel and rollicking stand-up from late night sensation John Oliver. Rock legends The B-52's delivered an infectious performance on New Year's Eve to usher in 2018 in style.
Foxwoods kicked off the new year by honoring community heroes with "We Salute Our First Responders," an all-day event where Police, Fire and Rescue personnel received discounts on luxurious hotel rooms, a variety of world-class dining experiences and can't-miss retail offerings.
The January fun continues with Baseball Winter Weekend featuring over 40 Red Sox legends of past and present. Fans will be treated to autograph sessions, insider panels, photo opportunities, a Town Hall meeting and the chance to get an inside look at their favorite team. The rest of the month's entertainment slate is bristling with star power including individual shows from a trio of outstanding comics – Jim Gaffigan, Bob Marley and Ari Shaffir – as well as a mind-blowing ventriloquist act from Darci Lynne & Friends. Tickets for all events can be purchased at foxwoods.com.

About the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation
The Mashantucket Pequots are a native Algonquin people in southeastern Connecticut who endured centuries of conflict and survival on the oldest continuously occupied reservation in the U.S. (est. 1666). As the first native people within the continental United States to survive attempted genocidal massacre by European immigrants (1637), the Mashantucket Pequots have an unprecedented story of restoration, which is exhibited at their world-class Museum and Research Center (www.pequotmuseum.org).
